As you may have heard: Robin Pope Safaris is thrilled to announce the opening of Kuthengo Camp in Liwonde National Park, Malawi. The name “Kuthengo” – “wilderness” or “bush” – refers to the natural location of the camp under the roof of spreading fever trees in front of a large open space on the banks of the spectacular Shire River.
The camp boasts four spacious en-suite safari tents, each featuring an outdoor shower, bathtub, basin (double), state-of-the-art ‘Evening Breeze’ air-conditioned beds, as well as a private deck enjoying sunset views.
The main tent with dining area is located under a magnificent fever tree, overlooking the Shire River where herds of elephants and other game are freqeuntly seen coming down for a drink or to cool off. The capacity of the camp for only ten guests allows the small team of guides to personalize activities to give each guest the safari experience of their dreams.
In addition to the stylish charm of the camp itself, a stay at Kuthengo promises adventures around every corner. Since Liwonde is a virtually untouched national park, the guest can expect game drives with a wealth of game encounters, adventurous walking safaris and peaceful boating safaris on the Shire.
After the successful settlement of cheetahs last year, the African Parks organization introduced additional lions in early 2018, which after decades of abscence are to become a key species again for the natural ecosystem of Liwonde.
With three Malawi properties located in Majete Game Reserve, Lake Malawi National Park and now Liwonde National Park, Robin Pope Safaris offers a tantalizing offer to part from the traditional safari routes and instead visit the south of Malawi on a ‘bush to beach’ tour. Tailor-made combinations for this are provided by the itineraries Warm Heart, Malawi Highlights or Pumulani Anniversary.
Kuthengo Camp is waiting for you!
