What a great way to kick off April with our bush drum beating loudly and beckoning you to take a minute as we would like to share some new and exciting news with you. New faces, new camps, new rates, new routes and much more…
New Team Member: Amelia joins the Sabela Team.
As of the 1st April I will have a new assistant helping me with day to day administration. She is based in South Africa (technology makes anything possible these days) Her name is Amelia van Rooyen and some of you might know her as the previous marketing manager for The Ant Collection (Ant’s Nest & Ant’s Hill).
Amelia spent 12 years with Ant’s but had to make some changes due to family life. She comes with 18 years’ experience in the tourism and hospitality industry so will be a great asset to my team. I herewith officially welcome Amelia. Her contact address will be email@example.com
New Sabela Website Live
Rebranding means new webpage! Our new website is live and reflects our new light and fresh image. The page holds lots of information and links to galleries, your easy source of information on any Sabela Africa Partner…
We have finally overcome all the internet gremlins who kept testing our patience of getting our new website up and running and we can finally announce that our site is live. With time we will still add some more details for you but for now please feel free to visit and browse – www.sabela-africa.com
We have some newbies arriving into our family soon:
Machaba Safaris have two new camps opening:
- DETEEMA SPRINGS: Launching 1 May 2019 and will be open all year round. It has 7 luxury tents and 1 family unit, yet remains to be an unpretencious camp overlooking the Deteema springs. Being situated within an incredible wildlife area, walking is the name of the game here.
- DEKA CAMP: Launching 1 June 2019 and open annually from 1 May to 15 November. Deka is probably one of the remotest camps in Hwange. It has 6 luxury tents built with natural rock, canvas and thatch roof. Beeing in the Machaba private concession, Deka offers superb walks, game and night drives.
You will be able to reach the camps via a flight from Vic Falls to Robin’s airstrip and then with a 40-minute drive to camp.
Mowani will be opening a new camp called Chimelu Valley camp (meaning “Created by God”) in May 2020. It will have 10-12 chalets plus 2 suites. It is situated about 7 mins drive beyond Mowani, and will still use the Twyfelfontein airstrip for access, or you can access via road. The entire lodge will be solar-powered. We can’t wait to see the end result of this masterplan. The initial rates will be similar to that of Mowani.
Wolwedans turns 25
Wolwedans will be celebrating their 25-year anniversary this year in July and have also done a major refurbishment of Dunes Lodge. Split level decks have been added, more privacy to rooms, outside showers and better insulation and ventilation have all added to the improvements. A special Wolwedans feature to follow soonest.
Okahirongo with substantially improved reachability
Okahirongo has a new daily pick up and drop off service from Sesfontein to Purros. This can be either an escorted selfdrive or clients may choose to park their car in Sesfontein and jump onto the Okahirongo vehicle for the 2.5h scenic route to Purros. The cost has been kept exceptionally low to open up Okahirongo for more visitors.
2020 Rates Released
Most of our Namibia partners have released their 2020 rates so please do visit relevant links given for these and other information (African Monarch lodges, Onguma, Swakopmund Guesthouse, Okahirongo, Mowani )
