Message from Alistair of Machaba Safaris

We recently received an uplifting and encouraging letter from co-owner of Machaba Safaris, Alistair Rankin. What an extraordinary man. Despite all the challenges they are, and the whole tourism industry are facing, they wanted to re-assure you of their commitment to deliver when all of this is over.

We share some of his thoughts and news with you:

What have they been up to? They have managed to keep all staff members however all on reduced salaries and most are at home with their families. The camps are all ready to go and can open within 24 hours if need be. There are few staff members stationed at the camps to keep up maintenance and monitoring wildlife movements. Not such a bad place to be.

The Delta has been transformed into a virtual paradise with the floodwaters arriving. Its teeming with wildlife and birdlife by the thousands. Great rains have fallen all over so waterholes are attracting amazing wildlife sightings.

What does all of this mean to us? Until travel is open, Machaba Safaris will continue with their great work to sustain and maintain these camps and wildlife areas. Relaxed terms and postponements are available on request and each case to be considered individually so please get in touch regarding this.

The staff ask weekly when they can resume their duties and to be honest, we can not say. The desire is there, to get back to normal as soon as possible, whatever the new normal will be. Safety aspects are being worked on to practice best measures in camps post-COVID-19.

What is Machaba Safaris looking for? Commitment and awareness-raising to guests and clients to travel to Africa again. With its wide-open spaces, off-the-beaten-track locations, and magnificent wildlife sights to be seen, where else would you want to be?

Machaba Safaris have issued 2 specials post-COVID. Please click here for Exclusive use special or special offer valid until end March 2021.

For any other information such as rates, specials, images and videos, please visit the link to Machaba Safaris here.

In the meantime, we would like to send our well wishes to all of you. Keep safe and never stop dreaming of your next African trip.

Best regards

Hella and the Sabela team
