Here it comes: Onguma Camp Kala
This November, Onguma will be opening their newest member, Onguma Camp Kala. This ultra-exclusive 8 bed lodge is situated next to a floodlit waterhole which is frequented by a variety of wildlife. Only four luxurious villas with spacious decks, private sala, and star bed, hot tubs and fire pit which are elevated from the ground and have grand vistas onto the waterhole. A lounge, bar and the interactive show kitchen are just some of the features of the main area. The ground level hide inside the main area has already sparked a lot of interest in the market. The inspiration behind the style of Camp Kala is from the termite mounds so common to this part of Namibia. Muted tones remind you of the salt pans and surrounding landscapes. Ideal is an exclusive use option for 8 – 12 guests but villas can be booked on an individual basis as well.

Cleaning up the Community Areas
A successful collaboration between African Monarch Lodges and Miss Supranational Namibia has produced the first African Monarch Cup earlier this month. There were celebrations all round as medals were handed over to the winning teams of the Netball and Football tournament. This event serves as an incentive for the community to keep the area clean.
African Monarch Lodges continues to strive to preserve the precious land in which they operate and uplift the communities with whom they have partnered. An incentive was set that they will continue to host the tournament annually on the condition that the surrounding villages are being kept clean. A number of well-known Namibian and International Brands have joined forces with African Monarch Lodges to ensure the clean-up campaign remains sustainable and achievable throughout the year.

Otjimbondona; lounging Meerkats and Staff training
During the trying times of Covid, Otjimbondona used time wisely and made some changes to the layout of the main area of this luxury farmstead. A new Gym Sala was built and now guests can exercise with a view. The previous Gym room has been changed to a games room or can also be used as a lounge to catch up on some mails.
Another addition is a Wellness Sala and Josefina was sent for training in a variety of treatments which she can now confidently offer with much passion. This new experience has proven to be very popular with the guests who have visited so far this year.
Lazarus, the guide in training, has recently been spending a lot of time with the Suricates to habituate them. He would accompany guests to sit close to the borrows and observe these cute and interesting animals.
Bidding farewell to Okahirongo
On a sad note, we bid Okahirongo Lodges goodbye from the Classic Namibia group as well as the Sabela Africa Marketing portfolio. The lodges have been sold and we wish Lucia and Rosella all the very best with what ever the future holds for them. It has been a privilege to represent them in the German speaking and Benelux market for so many years. Buona fortuna e Arrivederci !
We welcome the news from Eurowings who will have 10 weekly flights from mid September servicing the Frankfurt-Windhoek route and also offering Vic Falls from Windhoek and return three times a week. The latter flight is excellent news for the whole Kaza area.
