Based on this wealth of experience, he has been instrumental in setting up Machaba Safaris in Botswana since 2012 and is now successfully expanding into Zimbabwe. His wife Wendy Rankin is responsible for the reliable implementation and marketing of her husband's visions.
Deteema Springs Camp is located near the Deteema dam in northwestern Hwange National Park. This area is famous for its large concentrations of animals, including elephant. Due to the existence of year-round water seeps, this area is ideal for walking and game drives, producing incredible wildlife sightings.
Eight luxury tents which include one family unit all on decks with walkways meandering between the rocks and trees of this unique site. The tents are smaller than the traditional Machaba style tent but fit perfectly in with the surroundings of one of the most iconic parts of Hwange National park. All necessary facilities of a luxury camp are available
The main area is tented on decks overlooking the Deteema Springs, offering one an opportunity to sit and watch the African bush unfold in front of you.
The sustainable operation of Machaba Safaris is based on solar technology, biological water treatment and residue-free waste management.
