Onguma is the only private game reserve on the eastern side of Etosha National Park, hence offering a choice between a private game experience and the guided tour into Etosha. With its collection of 5 different camps and lodges as well as two campsites, it caters for different budgets and experiences. Onguma Etosha Aoba is a typical bush lodge set in a remote forest within the 34 000 hectares of private wilderness.
Covid-19 Camp ProtocolIt was a South African family of entrepreneurs who became aware of the farm Onguma in the east of the Etosha National Park. Fritz Vorster has been managing Onguma as a private reserve since the turn of the millennium in cooperation with his family and experienced lodge operators from Namibia. The reserve is consistently dedicated to nature and animal protection and the surrounding community is integrated into various projects. The different lodges have become an integral part of a Namibian tour.
Part of Onguma was set aside and offering the adjacent Oshivelo community members jobs by being part of a greater cause. With the projects being run here, approximately 250 jobs have been created. Some of these projects include planting a variety of vegetables for lodge and camp use as well as supplying larger parts of Namibia with fresh vegetables.
Furthermore, an active anti-poaching program has been implemented recently to help protect the black and white rhino population on Onguma.
The 11 reed-covered bungalows, including 3 2-bedroom suites and 1 specially equipped honeymoon suite, were recently renovated. The comfortable and tasteful furnishings are matched by air conditioning and mosquito nets, and all rooms are WiFi compliant. The elegant lounge with restaurant and bar opens onto a large terrace where most dinners are served under the stars. The wine cellar is known beyond the reserve.
A small pool and an open fireplace invite you to relax.
