Alistair Rankin has many years of experience in the safari business as a guide, camp manager and managing director with renowned companies in South Africa. Based on this wealth of experience, he has been instrumental in setting up Machaba Safaris in Botswana since 2012 and is now successfully expanding into Zimbabwe. His wife Wendy Rankin is responsible for the reliable implementation and marketing of her husband's visions.
Machaba Safaris is independently owned and run by a team of avid safari experts.
The sustainable operation of Machaba Camp is based on solar technology, biological water treatment and residue-free waste management. On the all-terrain vehicle, on foot or from the boat, the experienced guides track the species-rich animal world at the edge of the Moremi protected area.
Spacious and elegantly furnished EnSuite tent chalets built in a classic 1950’s style offer 8 couples and 2 families a near-natural retreat. There is also plenty of space in the bathroom with a separate toilet and a romantic outdoor shower. In the central main tent, there is a lounge, bar and restaurant, and cosy seating groups invite you to linger. The kitchen meets the highest standards, the pool is a tempting place to refresh yourself, and the evenings are spent in the open air at the central fireplace.
