Already in its fifth generation, the family of the operators Hugh and Leigh-Ann Morrison can look back on an almost 100-year history of their estate in today's National Park. This traditional connection led to Makakatana Bay Lodge being approved as the only privately - run accommodation within the nature reserve. The guest benefit from this privilege through the immediate experience of nature from his accommodation and the expert communication of the natural wealth by the operators and staff of the lodge who are familiar with the local conditions. Morrisons, as the owner of the lodge, live on the premises and personally manage the business.
The heart of the lodge is Makakatana’s communal area which has been designed for relaxation and complete comfort. Most activities depart from the main area and your meals will be served either in the boma or on the raised deck which has been built around the lodge. The Old crab house now houses the wines and serves as the wine cellar and nearby is the bar and a private bush pool.

The two Family Rooms both sleep a maximum of 4 guests each. The main room has a king bed, and the interleading room has two twin beds. There is a spacious indoor bathroom with a shower that opens onto an outdoor bathroom with a bath and outside shower.
