Alistair Rankin has many years of experience in the safari business as a guide, camp manager and managing director with renowned companies in South Africa. Based on this wealth of experience, he has been instrumental in setting up Machaba Safaris in Botswana since 2012 and is now successfully expanding into Zimbabwe. His wife Wendy Rankin is responsible for the reliable implementation and marketing of her husband's visions.
Machaba Safaris is independently owned and run by a team of avid safari experts.
To keep our eco-footprint light, we use energy-efficient fridges in our kitchens, which we turn off at night. We also use coal cold rooms and cellars to store heat-sensitive items.The sustainable operation of Machaba Saffaris is based on solar technology, biological water treatment and residue-free waste management.
All 8 thatched river-facing suites have spacious internal and external living areas, a large luxury bath, an inside and outside shower, air conditioning, overhead fans, mini bar, tea/coffee facilities including a Nespresso machine.
In addition, each suite has a private ‘refresh and relax’ pool conveniently located in the external living area. All rooms are equipped with three-quarter beds that can be converted to a king size bed.
Two of the eight suites have sofa beds and may be used as triples. The sofa beds are recommended for children between 10 and 11 years. Each of the suites have a view of the river and offers the opportunity to see the famous Chobe elephants, migrating zebra or buffalo grazing on the floodplain below.
