It was a South African family of entrepreneurs who became aware of the farm Onguma in the east of the Etosha National Park. Fritz Vorster has been managing Onguma as a private reserve since the turn of the millennium in cooperation with his family and experienced lodge operators from Namibia. The reserve is dedicated to nature and animal protection and the surrounding community is integrated into various projects. The different lodges have become an integral part of a Namibian tour.
Part of Onguma was set aside and offering the adjacent Oshivelo community members jobs by being part of a greater cause. With the projects being run here, approximately 250 jobs have been created. Some of these projects include planting a variety of vegetables for lodge and camp use as well as supplying larger parts of Namibia with fresh vegetables.
Furthermore, an active anti-poaching program has been implemented recently to help protect the black and white rhino population on Onguma.

Camp Kala consists of just four guest Suites, linked by raised walkways, and although the lodge is perfect for exclusive use for 8 to 12 guests, the 4 suites can also be booked individually. Spacious and private, the open-plan suites have sumptuous twin or king-sized beds with a state-of-the-art air-cooling system. The comfortable seating area is equipped with a fully stocked personal bar.A hand stitched curtain separates the beautiful bathroom with bespoke double vanities, full-size bathtub and generous shower from the bed area.
Each suite has its own deck with fire pit, outdoor shower and wood-fired hot tub. There is a walkway to the private, shaded sala with a king size outdoor day bed - perfectly placed for an armchair safari or to 'sleep out' under the stars.
