Onguma is the only private reserve on the eastern side of Etosha National Park, offering a private game experience, the famous Onkolo Hide and interpretive bush walk. With its collection of 5 different camps and lodges, it caters for different budgets and experiences. Onguma The Fort is the flagship with endless vistas into the Fisher Pan of Etosha National Park. Certainly, one of the most spectacular lodges Namibia has to offer.
Covid-19 Camp ProtocolIt was a South African family of entrepreneurs who became aware of the farm Onguma in the east of the Etosha National Park. Fritz Vorster has been managing Onguma as a private reserve since the turn of the millennium in cooperation with his family and experienced lodge operators from Namibia. The reserve is dedicated to nature and animal protection and the surrounding community is integrated into various projects. The different lodges have become an integral part of a Namibian tour.
Part of Onguma was set aside and offering the adjacent Oshivelo community members jobs by being part of a greater cause. With the projects being run here, approximately 250 jobs have been created. Some of these projects include planting a variety of vegetables for lodge and camp use as well as supplying larger parts of Namibia with fresh vegetables.
Furthermore, an active anti-poaching program has been implemented recently to help protect the black and white rhino population on Onguma.
The 11 Bush Suites and 1 Honeymoon Suite are lined up to either side of The Fort like a string of pearls. Very Bush Suite is very private and offers from the spacious bed, lounge and bathroom areas endless views into the surrounding open plains. Inside- and outside showers and large private deck are just as much features of the luxury Bush Suites as amenities such as tea- and coffee stations, a well-stocked minibar and air conditioning for the warmer days.
A personal drawing book and other surprises invite guests to spend quality time within their own private Bush Suite.
11 Bush Suites, the Sultan Suite and a Honeymoon Suite offer 26 guests accommodation in unique fortress architecture. With stylistic references to Arabic influences, Onguma The Fort creates a fairytale atmosphere from 1001 Nights and is the impressive backdrop for an extravagant wildlife experience in the Onguma Private Reserve. The individual, air-conditioned suites have plenty of space and are tastefully furnished. In addition to the indoor shower, there is also an outdoor shower. Each suite with its panorama windows and its large viewing terrace with seating area and sun loungers offer a clear view of the wilderness.
